This is my latest project! My friend Eve created this new project called the Tri-City 2011 MVP Cyphers and asked me to jump on as the video editor! Basically this project contains people from West Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade Counties that came together and freestyle about anything and everything. This project definitely shows the lyrically creativity of these guys and I’m glad I had the opportunity to worked on this project. Check it out!
This is the official Webbz “I’m A Star” Music Video! The entire video was shot in Miramar, Florida in 3 hours! We shot this video on a Canon EOS Rebel T2i. It was my first time using the T2i for a music video and it definitely performed very well. Watch out for Webbz because he’s about to blow up! Stay tuned … more videos will be coming soon!! http://www.GaryDunkel.com
This is my brand new 2011 Demo Reel. It is a compilation of my work dating back about 6 years to the present time. This video shows my skills as a Director, Producer, Cinematographer, Writer, & Editor! Please let me know what you think!
This is my first official time-lapse of the Miami skyline! I was shooting the skyline across the bay by the MacArthur Causeway. This time lapse was created by using 5 second intervals on the Shoot Timer Remote. All together it took 598 photos to complete this time-lapse and almost 2 hours!
I have always admired time lapse videos! I think it is one of the coolest effects you can do and I really love watching them. I wanna start doing my own time lapse videos so I looked at random videos on youtube to kinda get an idea of what to do and I came across the video above! That video is incredible. It is very well put together with the editing and music! I plan on doing a lot of my own time lapse videos soon. I’m going to Vegas next month and I will definitely be doing one while I’m there as well as other photos! The way I used to do time lapse videos never looked right. I used to lock down my Panasonic DVX 100B video camera on a tripod, press record and let it run for a while and then take it into Final Cut and speed it up. That way kinda works but it definitely doesn’t work if you’re trying to do a sunrise/sunset or an extended period of time! With a DSLR it’s so much easier and it actually works! I’ll post up my own time lapse videos when they’re created!
Hollywood, CA is the entertainment capital of the world! It has the biggest market for film, television, and music! It is also home to the worlds largest film studios! This is where I need to move to! Don’t get me wrong, I love living in Miami! All of my friends are down here and we’re all like a huge family, I love the lifestyle down here, I love partying down here, and I love the different cultures and art that miami has to offer. However, I feel like my career is going absolutely nowhere down here! As a filmmaker I don’t get enough work whether it be freelance or working as crew on a set. I’ll do a music video and then nothing else will come along for a few months or a year and then another one will come up. I’m constantly looking on mandy.com and craigslist.com for film jobs and there’s just not enough going on down here. On mandy.com currently there is 2 film jobs in the entire state of Florida and 86 film jobs in the LA area! It’s definitely time for a change! I need to jump start my career and I feel like the only way to do this is to move out to Los Angeles where there are tons of crew positions available all of the time. I know it’s not going to be easy out there either but at least it will be a little more accessible! I’m already kinda planning my move. I decided that I am going to move out there in 1 1/2 – 2 years! That should give me enough time to save up some money and eliminate some bills! I’ve already started looking at apartments online and I’m currently trying to pick which area I wanna live in. So far it’s looking like Van Nuys is a safe bet. Supposedly it’s only about 15mins outside of LA and it’s nearby to all of the major studios! I’m extremely excited for this! I’ve worked so hard over the years and haven’t really gotten too far in my career yet! I truly believe LA is where its at for me and it will definitely do wonders for my career! For the next 2 years I really gotta stop going out as much and save a lot of money! I really need to eliminate and some of my bills because living in LA is not cheap! Although, I did find some decent prices, just not sure what the area they are located in is like! I plan on making a trip out to LA sometime by the end of this year to go neighborhood and apartment hunting! I’m really happy I finally decided to start planning this out because now I have something to work towards! I’m really excited to get my career off of the ground! “Entourage” is about to become my reality in the next few years!
I went back home to New York for to visit family, hang out in the city on St. Patty’s Day, and to have a Photography adventure! I was up there for 5 days and I took a total of 600 pictures! I captured some really amazing images! I hit up most of the spots that I wanted to such as Radio City, Top of the Rock (Rockefeller Building), Top of the Empire State Building, Central Park, Bryant Park, Times Square, Battery Park, Wall Street, World Financial Center, and other random locations! However, there were a few locations I did not make it to on this trip such as Coney Island, Brooklyn, South Street Seaport, and the Statue of Liberty! Those locations will all be photographed next time I go back home. Even though I ended up getting sick on day 2, I didn’t let that stop me! I had no voice, my throat was killing me, and at some points I had a fever but I knew I still had pictures to take! I was determined to photograph as much as I could while I was up there! What better place to go on a photo adventure other than my hometown New York City! I’ll be going up there this week for an amazing photo adventure!!! I’ve gone on some cool photo adventures around South Beach but this one is gonna be like no other! I’ve been really inspired by photographer Peter Lik’s incredible photos of Central Park and the entire NYC Skyline! I plan on spending a full two days taking pictures. I’m gonna hit up Central Park, top of the Rockefeller Center, top of the Empire State Building, Long Island City, Brooklyn, and other places! I really wanna come back with stunning photos of the skyline! I’m really excited to take random pictures all over the city! I also planning on doing some stock footage video shots as well. Of course when I return I will post tons of pictures!!!
2011 is starting to look pretty good with a few projects lined up and a few underway! I am directing a short film called “There Goes The Neighborhood” written by Jason Gallotti. Rehearsals are this coming Sunday and we will be shooting in about 2 -3 weeks! It’s another short comedy so it should be a lot of fun to shoot! I’m also shooting the “Like Me” Music Video for Stan Da Man in 2 weeks down in Fort Lauderdale, FL! This will be my first shoot using my Canon Rebel T2i to do HD Video and I’m very excited to test it out! After that I got 3 other short films lined up that Jason Gallotti has written! Also, I will be working on the second draft of my latest film that I wrote with my friend Jordan Wapner “:Prefer Not To Say” sometime in the next week! I believe we wrote a really fun screenplay and the second draft will only be that much better! Please “LIKE” our film “:Prefer Not to Say” on Facebook at: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Prefer-Not-To-Say/119827934732531 AND Follow us on twitter at: http://www.twitter.com/PreferNotTooSay … Other then that I’m always looking for new projects so lets get something going!
